At about 2:37 AM I was awoken to the sound of rain on the tin roof, wind shaking the windows and the sound of the thunder that remained just beyond the hills that surround the town.
The sounds were surprising but welcomed.
It was true I'd only been asleep about two hours when I was awoken.
However I was thrilled to be woke up by the sound of rain.
Because that meant that we had a chance.
A chance for green grass and beautiful flowers.
A chance for mine and my mothers garden to grow.
A chance for many things.
Sometime between 3 and 3:10, after the rain had begun to slow and the wind had died down I found myself asleep.
I woke again at 8:59 AM when my alarm went off.
I chose to turn it off and sleep some more.
I woke again at around 9:41 and found myself heading to the bathroom and was greeted by my mother saying it'd rained and my father saying we'd gotten about half an inch.
I had simply laughed and said "I know, it woke me up at about 2:40 last night, I think it rained for about an hour." My father looked at me like he was waiting for me to say more.
My mother continued on with her work saying something about how it'd woken her up too.
I remember laying back in bed a few minutes after that and tossing and turning, I'd turn one way when I thought that perhaps I could get some more sleep and another way when I remembered that Christina was coming and that I needed to get up.
I can honestly say that it has rained at least 3 or 4 more times since I woke up at about 9:41 this morning.
I'm happy to see the rain.
I'm not happy it's cold.
But I'm not complaining.
Thank God it's raining.
We needed it.
So now I must sleep.
I shall drift to sleep to the sounds of raindrops falling on the tin roof.
And I shall sleep peacefully.
For today was a good day.
Even if mom and dad did fight.
XOXO,
Dollface.
